George W Brown was born the 21st November 1937 in Clinton, North Carolina and graduated from North Carolina State University (honors) with a degree in mechanical engineering. Dr Brown received a Reynolds Scholarship to attend Bowman-Gray School of Medicine and graduated as a Medical Doctor in 1964. His career was focused on children, families, and communities. He was a Commissioned Officer and Regular Corps Reserve Member in the US Public Health Service (1965-2016). Following their service in Africa, Doctors George and carolyn founded the Alaska-Kenya George Brown Health Scholarship Program for Kenyan high school students who wish to have health care careers. This 17-year program has successfully provided training and career entry for over 40 Kenyan students in medicine, nursing, laboratory, social work, behavioral health, pharmacy and public health.
